Some Useful Quarter Peals Composed by BYROC
and arranged, where necessary, by yours truly
A selection of the 'best' quarters of differing lengths in varying methods are given. The best is defined by the following criteria:
- Max. cru's for the plan (i.e. 4 per course in plain methods)
- Max. 56's and 65's within (i) above
- Simplicity in writing down (often, though' not always, means simplicity in remembering & calling)
Plain Bob Major
Group A methods have the advantage that the course can be shortened by two leads with calls at 5ths and 4ths. BYROC
can either make these both bobs or both singles, whereas the most efficient is a bob at one and a single at the other.
Where BYROC uses these calls, it invariably loses one roll-up. I have re-arranged these as bob-5ths, single-4ths with a
compensating single as necessary.

These are 'cut-down' 1376's, as this length allows a two-part plan, with the omission of one course in one part.
Each contain 44 cru's, the maximum on this plan. Call Z1 for Z in the 1st part, Z2 for Z in the 2nd part to obtain the 'best' music.
Calling both Z1 and Z2 equal to the longer alternative gives a 1376 with 48 cru's in each case.

Once again, these are 'cut-down' two-part 1376's with the omission of one course in one part.
These contain 52 cru's, the maximum on this plan. Again, call Z1 for Z in the 1st part, Z2 for Z in the 2nd part to obtain the 'best' music.
Calling both Z1 and Z2 equal to the longer alternative gives a 1376 with 56 cru's in each case.
Remember! Every call at 5ths/4ths is a bob followed by a single (or vice versa)
